Risk assessment &HAZOP Study
A HAZOP study is an examination procedure. Its purpose is to identify all possible deviation from the way in which a design is expected to work and to identify all the hazards associated with these deviations. When deviation arises that result in hazards, action are generated that require design engineers to review and suggest solutions to remove the hazard or to reduce its risk to an acceptable level.

There are potential of multiple casualties in industries (specially in chemical industries). Disaster in plant could have long time effect for employees, people and environment. Hazard can take the form of death, ill health and injury to people, damage to property, plant, products or the environment, production losses, business harm and increased liabilities.
Hazards in Process Industries
CHEMICAL HAZARDS, which include acidity, alkalinity, corrosiveness, explosiveness, flammability, reactivity, toxicity and asphyxiation;
THERMODYNAMIC HAZARDS, which include high pressure and vacuum, heat transfer, high and low temperature and fluid jet;
ELECTRICAL AND ELECTROMAGNETIC HAZARDS, which include high voltage, radiation, static electricity and electrical current;
MECHANICAL HAZARDS, which include mechanical energy, stresses, factors and impact blows and contact laceration;
HEALTH HAZARDS, which include noise, pollutants, chemicals, vibration, radioactivity and temperature extremes.
